Come enjoy the many parks that Fort St. James has to offer, from provincial parks that offer camping & swimming, to kiddie parks with swings & slides.

Paarens Beach Provincial Park

This beautiful provincial park is located 11 km out Sowchea Bay Road on the shores of Stuart Lake. The park offers camping, swimming, a sheltered picnic area, and a boat launch. Enjoy the long sandy beach, and in the evening sit by the fire in the cool shade of your campsite. The park is available for day or night use.

 


 

Sowchea Bay Provincial Park

Visit the shores of Stuart Lake and enjoy one of the most spectacular views of the water and the surrounding mountains. Take a refreshing swim during the day; in the evening sit by the fire and enjoy the peace and quiet of a glorious sunset. This provincial park is located on Sowchea Bay Road, and offers a boat launch, swimming, firewood on-site, and overnight camping. This is a visually stunning area, so remember to bring your camera.

 


 

Cottonwood Park

This downtown park is the scene of various community activities throughout the year in Fort St. James. There is a playground for children and a beach for swimming, a covered area for rainy days, and a band stand/stage for special occassions. This is a beautiful setting for large family gatherings, when a day at the beach is just the thing (day use only). Historical features of interest at the park include the replica of the Junkers W34 Float Plane and the Old Steam Shovel. Generous parking, and all located right on the lake.

 


 

Goodwin Park

Goodwin park is a fun place for all members of the family. The park offers tennis courts, a playground for children, and an open field area for sports and other games. This park is located in a residential section of town, on Birch Street.

 


 

Rotary Kiddie Park

The kiddie park features a well-equipped play area for kids. It is located near the baseball diamonds on Stuart Drive (take a right at the main intersection coming into town).
