Fort St. James has a rich and interesting history. Stop by the Fort St. James Chamber & Tourism building and find some great resources for you to discover. Books, maps, brochures and plenty of suggestions from the friendly staff.
The name Fort St. James came from the original 1805 Northwest Company/Hudson’s Bay Company fur trading post which is now a National Historic Site and is only blocks from the Chamber office. When you visit here in summer, be sure to see the restored buildings and re-enactment of 19th century frontier life at the Fort St. James National Historic Site.
